WARWICK AT 150!
Mayor Michael Newhard
11 am-12 pm
The Village of Warwick is celebrating its 150 year anniversary this year! Tune in each week for all the upcoming events and how you can be part of this amazing celebration. It wasn’t until 1867 that the village had a large enough population to be incorporated. The area’s largest school, the Warwick Institute, many churches and the Warwick Savings Bank established themselves in the Village of Warwick. The Village’s tree lined streets became the hub of commerce and social gatherings that we know today. In 1967, the Village of Warwick celebrated its Centennial, the 100 year anniversary. This celebration was marked by special events, including a pageant play, a beard and mustache contest, costumes, and the burying of a time capsule in Memorial Park. The 2017 Sesquicentennial celebrations will take place throughout the year. Plans already include parades, picnics and contests for all ages. The 50-year old time capsule will be excavated and another one will be buried in its place.
